FarRoots (“we”, “us”, or “our”) is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we store and use it, and your rights over it. If you have any questions, contact us at hello@farroots.com.
1. What Data We Collect
We collect only the information you voluntarily provide to us through our forms:
- Email address — when you join the waitlist or apply as a designer.
- Full name — when you apply as a designer.
- City and country — when you apply as a designer, to understand where our designer community is based.
- Portfolio or social media link — when you apply as a designer, so our team can review your work.
- Specialty, years of experience, and shipping preference — when you apply as a designer, to assess fit for our platform.
- Optional notes about your work — if you choose to share them in the designer application.
We do not collect payment information, government IDs, or any sensitive personal data at this stage. We do not use cookies for tracking or analytics.
2. Why We Collect It
We use the information you provide for the following purposes:
- Waitlist notifications — to contact you when FarRoots launches and to send relevant updates.
- Designer vetting — to review your application, evaluate your portfolio, and determine whether your work is a fit for the FarRoots platform.
- Communication — to send you a confirmation when you join the waitlist or submit an application, and to follow up regarding your application status.
We will never use your information for purposes beyond those described above without first obtaining your consent.
3. How We Store It
Your data is stored securely in Supabase, a cloud database platform with encryption at rest and in transit. Supabase is SOC 2 compliant and stores data in secure, access-controlled environments. Only authorised members of the FarRoots team have access to this data.
We apply the principle of minimum necessary access — no one sees your data unless it is directly required for the purpose you submitted it for.
4. Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share it with no third parties except the following:
- Resend — an email delivery service we use to send you confirmation emails. Resend receives only your email address for the sole purpose of delivering transactional messages. They do not store or use it for any other purpose.
We will never share your data with advertisers, marketers, data brokers, or any other party.
5. How Long We Keep It
We retain your data for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for:
- Waitlist entries — retained until you request deletion or until FarRoots launches and the waitlist is no longer active.
- Designer applications — retained for up to 24 months after submission, or until you request deletion. Approved designer records may be retained for the duration of the business relationship.
6. Your Rights
If you are located in the European Union, United Kingdom, or any other jurisdiction with data protection laws (including GDPR), you have the following rights:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Right to deletion — you may request that we delete your personal data at any time.
- Right to rectification — you may request that we correct any inaccurate data we hold about you.
- Right to object — you may object to our processing of your data at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@farroots.com with the subject line “Data Request”. We will respond within 30 days.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of FarRoots after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
